Selling
The listing in 4 fields, good photos, the price, categories, editing, what happens when a listing is stopped.
How do I post a listing?
Tap "Sell" (on a phone it is in the middle of the bottom menu). A listing has 4 fields: photos, title, category and price. That is all that is required. Below them, folded, is "More details": description, brand, size, colour, material, condition and parcel class. They are optional, but a listing with them sells faster and gets fewer questions.
Publishing is free. The fields match the category: a dress gets a size, a book an ISBN, a phone a model, a wardrobe its dimensions.
What can and cannot be sold: Rules.
How do I take good photos?
- Natural light, daytime, next to a window. No flash.
- A plain background: a wall, a table, a blanket of one colour.
- The first photo shows the whole item, from the front. It is the one in the list.
- Then the details: the label, the seams, the serial number, the flaws. A scratch shown honestly builds trust; one hidden brings a problem after the sale.
- Photos taken by you, of your item. Not photos from the internet or from other listings.
You can add 1 to 20 photos, JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 15 MB each, at least 200 pixels. Photos are resized on the server and stripped of hidden data (where they were taken, the device). The original is not public.
What do I write in the title and description?
The title (3 to 80 characters): what the item is, the brand and what matters about it. For example "Leather jacket, size M" or "City bike, 54 frame, new brakes". No "urgent", no all-capitals, no repeated punctuation.
The description (up to 3000 characters): how long you have had it, how much you used it, its flaws, what is included (box, charger, accessories), why you are selling. Write as you would talk to someone standing in front of you.
One item, one listing. If you have several similar things, make one listing for each; listings with exactly the same text are not published twice.
What price should I set?
The price is between 1 and 100.000 lei. Search the site for items like yours and see what they were listed at. A used item usually sells for a third to a half of the new price, more if it is new with tags or rare.
Leave room to negotiate: buyers can propose a lower price. You can change the price any time from the listing page.
What does selling cost me?
Nothing. Publishing is free, we take no commission and there is no fee at all, neither for you nor for the buyer. You receive the price directly from the buyer, as you agree between you.
How do I choose the category and attributes?
The catalogue has 9 branches (Women, Men, Kids, Home and garden, Electronics, Books and media, Hobby and collectibles, Sports and leisure, Cars, motorcycles and tools) and over 700 categories. Pick the last step in the tree, for example Women, Clothing, Dresses. With the right category, the listing shows up under the right filters.
Condition has 5 levels: new with tags, new without tags, very good, good, acceptable. Choose it honestly; the buyer compares it with what arrives.
Pick the brand from the list; if it is missing, type the name. Size, colour and material are optional, but they are filters: a buyer looking for "dress, size M, green" finds your listing only if you filled them in.
How do I edit, hide or delete a listing?
You see your listings from the Account page, under "My wardrobe". A listing can be: draft (not yet published), active, reserved, sold, hidden or deleted. The edit, hide and relist buttons on the listing page are being built; until they appear, write to us from the Contact page with what you want changed (price, text, photos), or post the listing again, corrected.
Hiding takes the listing out of search without deleting it; relisting brings it back to the top of the list. A listing reserved for a buyer stays reserved for 5 days; if the sale does not happen, it goes back to active on its own.
Can I promote my listing?
There is no paid promotion. All listings appear under the same conditions: new and relisted ones at the top, the rest by relevance. What really helps: clear photos, a title with brand and size, filled-in attributes, a price close to similar items and quick replies to messages.
My listing was stopped. Why?
At publishing, the text and photos go through an automatic check. If something is not right, you see the reason on the spot and can fix it yourself. What stops publishing:
- Insults or inappropriate words in the title or description.
- Text written all in capitals, repeated letters or symbols ("!!!!"), too many hashtags or emoji.
- Links to other sites.
- The same text on two of your active listings.
- A photo with adult content. Upload a photo of the item.
If the listing seems to contain a prohibited item (weapons, medicines, counterfeits, animals and others from the Rules), it is not rejected on the spot: a team member looks at it, usually within a few hours, and we tell you what we decided. Until then the listing is visible only to you.
While a photo is not yet checked, the listing does not appear publicly; this usually takes a few minutes.
Can I write my phone number or e-mail in the listing?
Yes. While Seconda runs as a classifieds site, phone and e-mail are allowed in listings and messages. Simpler: set your phone once in Settings: it appears on all your listings, on tap, only for signed-in users. See How do I put my phone on my listings.
Links to other sites are not allowed: they stop publishing. Fake payment links come through them most often.
What happens with photos copied from other listings?
Every photo gets a fingerprint. A photo that already appears on another account is flagged to the team, and a person checks the listing. Copied photos are the sign of a scam or of an item that does not exist: that is why photos must be taken by you, of your item.
Do I sell as a private person or as Pro?
You are a private person when you sell your own things, now and then. You are Pro when you sell as a business, sell new products in series or buy in order to resell. The Pro account is switched on with your business details; they appear on the listing, as the law requires. Details in For businesses.
