Taxes and DAC7
Tax on what you sell, what DAC7 is, when tax details are requested, the thresholds, what is reported to the tax office.
Do I pay tax on what I sell?
The occasional sale of your own used belongings, usually below the price you bought them for, is as a rule not taxable. Selling as an activity (buying to resell, selling new products in series, selling a lot and often) is income and must be declared. We cannot give tax advice: when in doubt, ask an accountant or the tax office.
What is DAC7?
A European law (Directive 2021/514) obliging platforms through which things are sold to report once a year to the tax office the sellers who passed a threshold: at least 30 sales or at least 2.000 euro received in a year. In Romania the report is filed with ANAF by 31 ianuarie of the following year. Details in the DAC7 notice.
Do I have to give my tax identification number?
No, while Seconda runs as a classifieds site: we do not collect money and we do not know whether or for how much you sold, so we do not ask for tax details and report nothing. Taxes on what you sell remain your responsibility. When payment through the platform is switched on, tax details will be requested under the rules in the DAC7 notice.
Do prices include VAT?
The price in the listing is the final price the buyer pays for the item. A private person does not charge VAT. A VAT-registered Pro seller has VAT included in the price and issues an invoice; say so in the description.
